History
The Foundation honors the memory of Joseph and May G. Winston of Scarsdale, New York and the foundation's name carries their initials. photo of Joseph and May Winston
Joseph Winston was a distinguished attorney who practiced in New York City for more than 50 years. He was a graduate of the City College of New York (Phi Beta Kappa) and Columbia University Law School. He also earned an M.A. in comparative literature from Columbia University. Mrs. Winston was a graduate of New York University and was active in many charitable causes.
Mission
The J & M Foundation carries on the dreams and aspirations of Joseph and May Winston by making grants for charitable, educational, scientific, artisitc and literary purposes. The scope of grants thus far made have primarily focused on education in the United States, Europe and Israel. The Foundation has also made grants to further musical education and medical research.
